OASIS · Being greener is possible
A shorter route from greige to finished denim.
58% less water. No caustic. Verified on site by SGS under ISO 14021.
total water consumption per metre of fabric, across rope dyeing, flat finishing and over dyeing.
caustic soda eliminated — removed from the process entirely, not merely reduced.
verified on site under the SGS Water-use Efficiency Verification Program.
What OASIS is
OASIS is a combined sizing and finishing route, not a single product. It pairs MERTSIZE ECO-M, a compact sizing agent, with MERT-DNM COVER, a textile agent used through dyeing and finishing. Together they carry out sizing, dyeing and finishing without altering the organic and natural structure of the fabric.
Because the size film behaves differently, several conventional wet steps become unnecessary. The route is shorter, so the savings are not incremental efficiency gains — they come from steps that no longer happen at all.
Where the savings come from
Conventional route
- Singeing
- Mercerising — strong lye, caustic, weak lye
- Wash boxes 1–4
- Neutralisation wash
- Drying cans
- Dye box
- Oxidation and neutralisation
- Wash boxes 2–6
- Softener, bowing & skewing, Palmer

Verified results
Water consumption was measured per metre of fabric at a commercial denim mill and independently verified by SGS in October 2023, evaluated against ISO 14021:2016 for self-declared environmental claims.
| Process | Conventional | OASIS | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rope dyeing | 7.95 | 3.85 | −50% |
| Fabric finishing, flat dyed | 70.00 | 30.00 | −57% |
| Fabric finishing, over dyed | 88.89 | 36.15 | −59% |
| Total, all processes | 166.84 | 70.00 | −58.04% |
Verified on site on 18 and 20 October 2023. Reviewed by SGS under the SGS Water-use Efficiency Verification Program. The verification covers water-use efficiency; it does not address material quality or other legal compliance.
An earlier field assessment in February 2022 measured the same direction of travel: eco-flat finishing saved 54.3% of water and eco-over dyeing 70.6%, with caustic consumption eliminated in both.
